In February 2016, Global Leaders Fellow Nghia Trong Pham was accepted as a member of the Boston Global Forum (BGF) Young Leaders Network for Peace and Security.

The BGF was founded by Governor Michael Dukakis (Governor of Massachusetts, United States and Democratic nominee for President in 1988 election). The BGF brings together leaders and experts from around the globe to participate in open public forums to discuss and illuminate the most critical issues affecting the world at large.

In December 2015, Dr. Pham was invited to present his ideas on global security and peace at the Global Cybersecurity Day initiated by BGF and was subsequently approved for membership.

The BGF is very politically influential in Vietnam, where Dr. Pham comes from and the focus of his work. It is an influential appointment, as a lot of attention paid to the BGF by the Vietnamese Prime Minister. In a recent speech, he stated the Government of Viet Nam welcomes and highly appreciates works and ideas initiated by professors of the BGF.

As a member of the BGF Young Leader Network, Dr. Pham will actively contribute to the making of the BGF-G7 Submit Initiative, in which BGF will cooperate with Japan (the host of the 2016 G7 Summit) to convene leading scholars in business, government, technology and others to seek proposals and solutions to global issues involving peace, security and development. Proposals and solutions from the Initiative will be sent to national leaders and discussed at the 42nd G7 Summit in May 2016 in Japan.
