On Monday 9 June at 5 p.m., Nicolas Veron (Senior Fellow at Bruegel, and Visiting Fellow at the Peterson Institute, Washington DC) will give a seminar on "Banking Union: Will the ECB’s assessment do the trick?"

The European Central Bank’s comprehensive assessment of the bulk of Europe’s banking system, started in 2013 and expected to be completed in October 2014, is a critical opportunity to restore Europe’s financial system back to soundness. Its start has been more encouraging than cynics expected, and market conditions have been unexpectedly supportive. But the hardest part still lies ahead.
