GEG Director Ngaire Woods participated in the Summit on the Global Agenda 2013 of the World Economic Forum in Abu Dhabi in late November. Billed as the “world’s largest brainstorming event”, the Summit is an opportunity for experts in academia, business, civil society, and government to debate solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the global community

At the summit Professor Woods facilitated a session on “Rethinking Global Governance” featuring Pascal Lamy (former Director-General, WTO), Sam Muller (Director, Hague Institute for the Internalisation of Law), and Joseph Nye (University Distinguished Service Professor, Harvard Kennedy School). The discussion focused on how international institutions could be made more transparent and accountable and what new governance models could better ensure legitimacy and inclusiveness in global decision-making.
