Global Leaders Fellow Nematullah Bizhan was selected in April 2016 as a steering committee member for South Asia in World Politics Section at the International Studies Association. South Asia in World Politics creates a fertile dialogue between areas such as International relations theory, comparative regionalism, foreign policy analysis, and brings in the contextual knowledge of South Asia to International Studies Association. He hopes to facilitate engagement of South Asian scholars with the concepts and theories that have emerged from international relations, which in turn can benefit from more contextual knowledge, and through which some of the pressing challenges of the region could be addressed.

He was also selected as the steering committee member of the Oxford Network of Peace Studies (OxPeace) in November 2015. OxPeace is a multi-disciplinary initiative to promote the academic study of peace, peacemaking, peacebuilding and peacekeeping at the University of Oxford. It organizes lectures, seminars and conferences, and through its email lists it publicizes information about other related events. Through OxPeace, he wishes to help people better understand peacebuilding and contribute to building lasting peace in societies that suffer from conflict.
