Dr Noran Fouad
Dr Noran Fouad is a Research Associate for Digital Pathways at Oxford, leading on a project to develop an executive education course on digital transformation and digital governance.
Noran completed her PhD in international relations at the University of Sussex, where she was also working as a Doctoral Tutor before joining the University of Oxford. Noran’s doctoral project is an interdisciplinary piece of work that brings together insights from security studies, the philosophy of information, and software studies. Her PhD thesis specifically examines the socio-political construction of cybersecurity through an analysis of the peculiarities and agency of digital information.
Prior to her PhD studies, Noran worked as a Teaching Assistant and Assistant Lecturer of Political Science at Cairo University, Egypt, where she taught multiple undergraduate courses including: Theory of International Relations, Introduction to Political Science, Foreign Policy Analysis, and Western Political Systems. During that period, Noran conducted research on cybersecurity, internet governance, digital activism, and several other topics related to digital technologies. Noran was also an Academic Assistant and Executive Editor of two academic journals published by the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
Noran holds a BSc and a MSc degree in political science from Cairo University. Her master’s dissertation was focused on the transformative influences of cybersecurity on conflict and cooperation in international relations.
