Will TPP's Death Kill Labor Rights Reform in Vietnam?
In a new op-ed, Global Leaders Fellow Dr Nghia Trong Pham suggests that Hanoi should push on with planned reforms, even without the TPP as an incentive. He argues that although demand for labor rights reforms may be lessened with the death of the TPP, there are many reasons for Vietnam to continue this reform process. Ratifying and incorporating the ILO Conventions on freedom of association and collective bargaining into its legal systems will bring about many benefits for Vietnam.
